We’re Thankful For Differently Awesome People; November 2020

November Announcement

This November we are starting a fundraiser campaign for the Differently Awesome outreach to generate awareness for people with developmental disabilities.

We have set a goal to raise $500 for Nicks Shaved Ice Paradise by the end of November. We hope you’ll consider contributing to this great cause.

The Differently Awesome outreach is a non-profit organization that was started by Bruce Bussell to provide jobs for people with developmental disabilities by allowing them to work at a shaved ice stand called Nicks Shaved Ice Paradise. The name for the business was inspired by Bruce’s son Nick who was born with Down Syndrome and autism.

Some examples of developmental disabilities are:

  • Down syndrome
  • Autism and other pervasive development disorders
  • Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorders

You can expect to see posts on our blog and social media outlets about these developmental disabilities throughout the rest of November.

It can be difficult for people with these disorders to function in a way that most people would consider normal. We want to encourage our friends to make themselves aware of the issues people with these disorders face. In some cases there are opportunities for others to help.

Service and assistance dogs sometimes play a role in helping people with developmental disabilities. Maya and I also want to honor these canine friends that work tirelessly to assist in keeping people safe and healthy.

We want to encourage our readers and followers to support The Differently Awesome outreach by following them on social media and considering donating to this cause where possible.
